Design concept 設計理念The orchid has the famous reputation for a long time, elegant style and delicate fragrance. Many literati throughout the Chinese history never stop reciting the orchid. One saying of Confucius in the Kongzi Jiayu goes, "The orchid does not stops blooming even though there is no one appreciating it, nor wither or curl up in the cold weather. If a person is as determined as the orchid, his ambition will be unchanging; if a man has a strong belief like the orchid, his faith will be unswerving." The orchid does not just have such state and elegant manner, but symbolize the good character, fine things, fine behavior, loyal to the end, and more. So it is known as the “gentleman among flowers", and much beloved by people.
A slender and curved aerial root of orchid climbed along the rock is the work's main part, and the starting point that activates its vitality as well, containing both hard and soft energy. Each leaf made by the crystal clear jades is twisted into various angles so it has different expressions and showcases the dynamic development of growth. The orchids, carved as a blooming style or a half-open look, are all pearly clear, facing the sunlight and blooming in the wind. Additionally, there are some more animal decorations, such as the caterpillar travelling between branch and leaf, two snails talking to each other, and the mantis and ladybug fighting in a battle. This creation captures the moments in a flash about the nature, expressing the full of vitality and dramatic tension. It takes a period of five years to carve the whole jade material, but only the best part is remained at the final round. The mass of work has a generous look, crystal clear texture and elegant color. So it can be called an incomparable masterpiece, the best ingenuity-carving jadeite, as it's always charming and interesting no matter what angles to appreciate it.
